HOME OF THE BLIZZARD RETURNS
FUN FACT
Fun Fact: When Mawson first started work in South Australia, Walter Howchin was the only geologist at The University of Adelaide. Howchin was making important and amazing discoveries of glaciated rocks near the city.
Mawson believed that he should not intrude on another geologist's area of study. So when he was appointed to the staff of the university he travelled from Adelaide to the Olary and Broken Hill areas for his first research project in South Australia.
This area was poorly understood, but contained one of the richest silver ore deposits in the world. Partly Extracted from www.mawson.sa.gov.au .

A HAPPY MARRIAGE
HOME OF THE BLIZZARD REVISITED
Douglas Mawson wrote this book, Home Of The Blizzard in th
e 1910s, describing his experiences at Antartica during the 1911 Australian Antartic Expedition. It is an amazing, fascinating book- one of the best polar adventure stories you'll ever read. This 343- page book is a best seller and has been reprinted four times!

Fun Fact: Douglas Mawson married Francesca (Paquita) Delprat on 31 March 1914!
LOOK OUT FOR THIS!
In a week or two you can visit some other Emident Australians websites. I am currently teaching them how to create one.
Fun Fact: Mawson was 76 when he died.

SNEAK PEEK: BRIEF DESRIPTION OF CLOTHES & INFO
Fun Fact: In 1907 he joined Shackleton's Antartic Expedition. Together with th
ree other men he was the first to climb the 3000 metres+ Mount Eruebus, not to mention that Mawson was the first man to step on the South Magnetic Pole! Four years earlier Mawson had gone on a expedition to Vanuatu and published a great deal of papers on it.
Only kidding about the sneak peek.. you'll see it on the night!
